Start wherever you are

No audition, no previous music education, and no need to “be naturally talented.” We’ll start with a conversation about your interests, then shape lessons around your schedule, learning style, and goals.

Some students want to strum along to their favorite songs. Others want to understand jazz harmony, play in a band, improve their technique, or feel more comfortable improvising. All of these are worthwhile goals.

Lessons can include

We can combine practical songs and technique so that musical fundamentals make sense in context.

  • Acoustic or electric guitar basics
  • Chords, strumming patterns, and timing
  • Rock, pop, blues, and jazz repertoire
  • Ear training, music theory, and reading charts
  • Improvisation, composing, and finding your own sound

A realistic practice routine

Adults often have full schedules. We can design short, focused practice routines rather than expecting hours each day. Small, consistent steps are much more useful than perfectionism.

You’re welcome to bring songs you love, questions about gear, or music you want to understand.

Local and bilingual

I welcome adult learners across Brooklyn, especially Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Fort Greene, and Sunset Park. Lessons can be discussed in English or Japanese. Please inquire about availability and location arrangements.
