Questions, answered.
A few things you might wonder before your first guitar lesson.
Do you teach absolute beginners?
Yes. You do not need to know chords or read music before you start. We can begin with holding the instrument, listening, rhythm, and easy songs.
Do you teach both acoustic and electric guitar?
Yes. We can work with either instrument and choose exercises appropriate to the music you enjoy.
Can lessons be in Japanese?
Yes. I offer instruction in English or Japanese, including bilingual communication for families.
Do you teach kids and adults?
Yes. I welcome children, teenagers, and adults. Please share the student’s age and experience so we can discuss a good starting approach.
Where do lessons take place?
I focus on several Brooklyn neighborhoods, especially Sunset Park, Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, and Fort Greene. Lesson location and availability are arranged individually. Please contact me with your neighborhood and preferred setup.
How much do lessons cost?
Rates vary according to lesson length and arrangements. Please send an inquiry with your preferred lesson format for current pricing.
What styles do you teach?
Jazz, blues, rock, pop, and fundamentals that apply across styles. We can also explore improvisation, songwriting, composition, and music theory.
How frequently should I take lessons?
Many learners benefit from a regular rhythm of lessons and short practice sessions between them. We can discuss a schedule that fits your goals and availability.
Something else on your mind?
