PLANNING LESSONS

How Much Do Private Guitar Lessons Cost in Brooklyn?

A clear guide to the factors behind private lesson pricing, and how to compare options without choosing solely by the hourly rate.

Why prices vary

Private instruction prices can differ based on the teacher’s experience, session length, travel requirements, teaching location, and what is included in the lesson. A short introductory session and a long advanced coaching session are not necessarily comparable.

If lessons take place in students’ homes, transportation and scheduling may affect the price. Ask whether make-up policies or materials are included.

Questions worth asking

Before deciding, ask how long lessons last, whether the teacher offers a regular schedule, what happens if a student misses a lesson, and whether there is a trial option. Clarify whether you will need to buy books or other resources.

For younger students, a shorter lesson may be a better fit than an hour. For advanced students, longer time blocks may allow deeper repertoire and improvisation work.

Value is about the fit

The cheapest lesson is not automatically the most effective, nor is the most expensive one necessarily the best. Look for clear communication, relevant experience, and instruction that makes you eager to return to the instrument.

Ask for current rates

I provide current rates and available arrangements when you inquire, so that the information matches your lesson length and location. Send a quick inquiry with your neighborhood and goals.
